01 / About Me

4 Years. 4 Cities

I’m Adrian, born and raised in Toronto. 4 years ago, during my final semester of university, I moved to Asia to explore my roots and see the world. After completing my studies in Singapore, I lived in Taipei for six months before moving to Hong Kong, where I’ve been working ever since. Along the way, I spent a month in Osaka, explored Macau, and traveled through Thailand and Malaysia.

Thanks to local friends sharing their favorite spots, I’ve discovered incredible off-the-beaten-path locations, and now I’m passing those insider tips on to help you build your ultimate itinerary.

Simple, genuine, and authentic travel experiences are what I hope to share.

03 / Why this space

Recommendations with a real story behind them.

I’ve come to realize that I’ve been incredibly fortunate and blessed by God to have lived in so many different places. Along the way, I’ve met local people and friends in each destination who have generously shared their favorite spots and insider tips. As a traveler who has personally explored these recommended places, I’d love to pass them on to you. If you are someone who prefers to relax or enjoys luxurious getaways, this might not be the right place for you. But if you’re like me, seeking authentic and local experiences during your travels, then you’ve come to the right place.

04 / The methodology

How a place earns its pin.

The more I travel, the more I recognize that the best experiences typically shine in three areas: Cost, Accessibility, and Uniqueness.

01

Cost

Traveling like a local, to me, means staying on budget. The more affordable a destination is, the more I can explore without constraints. While low cost doesn’t always guarantee quality, keeping things within a budget ensures I look for authentic, everyday experiences that are accessible to the locals.

02

Accessibility

The more accessible a place is, whether through public transport, bike lanes, or walkable routes, the more freely I can explore without relying on expensive or complicated logistics. Since many authentic local spots are often located away from city centers, I always consider how easy it is to get there as a way to assess the accessibility of the destination. The accessibility of an attraction opens the door to deeper, more genuine travel experiences. Based on the icons shown for each attraction, you can find my recommended mode of transportation for getting there.

03

Uniqueness

With travel becoming increasingly common, travelers often seek destinations that offer unique and unforgettable experiences, those that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. What often sets these destinations apart is their distinctive character, which has evolved over time through culture, cuisine, and deeply rooted traditions. Drawing from my firsthand experience, I compare each destination with other places I have visited to assess its overall uniqueness.

04

Rating Scale

Both Cost and Uniqueness have been rated on a scale from 1 to 5. For Cost, 1 represents the best value for money, while 5 indicates the most expensive. For Uniqueness, 1 signifies a common experience, while 5 represents a truly one-of-a-kind attraction.

05 / Built from scratch

Travel, technology, and a place to bring both together.

Apart from traveling, I have a great passion for technology, particularly in how technology can be leveraged by brands to widen their reach and marketing. This website is just one of many projects I've undertaken to deepen my understanding of this field. I built this space completely from scratch, zero to one, so if you encounter any bugs or missing features, I apologize! I'm still learning, and I plan to gradually incorporate improvements and new features as enhancements in the future.
