Cost

Activities in West Kowloon are reasonably priced, though I wouldn’t call it the cheapest option. In addition to M+ and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, there are several food stalls for dining, but their prices are well above the average price range.

Accessibility

West Kowloon is nestled in the corner of Kowloon, and as a result the journey can vary depending on your starting point. There are multiple ways to reach West Kowloon, but in my experience, taking the bus is the most convenient option, as it can take you directly into the heart of the district. The subway is also viable, but keep in mind that the station is quite a distance from the main attractions. If you choose to walk from the subway, it typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes to reach West Kowloon.

Uniqueness

One of the standout features of West Kowloon is its escape from the concrete jungle of Hong Kong. With its spacious, modern design, it offers a distinctly different vibe compared to other attractions in the city. This unique atmosphere sets it apart in a positive way, making it a delightful contrast to the bustling urban environment.

My Experience

I still remember my first visit to West Kowloon; I was pleasantly surprised by how different it is from other attractions in Hong Kong! As a new development, West Kowloon exudes a unique atmosphere with its modern and spacious design, which is why I’ve returned multiple times. One of my favorite aspects of West Kowloon is the art museum, M+. The architecture of the gallery is fascinating, featuring a minimalist vibe and ample space. For just 120 HKD, you can explore their art galleries, which are quite enjoyable and different from typical art venues. They showcase creative works that incorporate movement and unique setups, making them intriguing beyond conventional paintings or drawings. If art isn’t your thing, you can also dive into history at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. While I haven't visited it myself, I've heard wonderful things about the exhibits. Regardless if you wish to visit or not, I always invite anyone heading to west kowloon to take a picture in front of the museum, as its unique architecture makes for a great backdrop! If your not an art or history person, don't worry, as my favourite activity at West Kowloon has to do with neither! My most recommended and personal favorite activity at West Kowloon is watching the sunset. The location is perfectly oriented to the west, providing breathtaking views as the sun sets over Victoria Harbor, with boats gently floating by. Overall, West Kowloon has so much to offer, making it a must-visit destination!
