Uniqueness

Sennan Long Park offers a rare, tranquil sunset experience that most tourists miss. It is best reached by car, rewarding those who make the trip with stunning vistas and a rotating calendar of local events. It is undoubtedly one of Osaka's most unique coastal escapes.

My Experience

On my drive back to Osaka from Wakayama, I decided to pull over at Sennan Long Park—a spontaneous detour that quickly turned into the highlight of my trip. Conveniently located right off the highway, the park is the ultimate spot to catch a coastal sunset, offering plenty of ways to pass the time as you wait for the golden hour. I spent the late afternoon browsing the massive nearby Aeon Mall, wandering through its shops and grabbing a quick bite to eat. As the sun began its descent, I walked back over to the seaside park. The waterfront was buzzing with unexpected energy; I learned that Sennan Long Park frequently hosts community events, and I had happened to arrive right in the middle of a local dog exhibition. I spent the next hour wandering through rows of artisanal stalls selling handmade dog treats, surrounded by a sea of local pups. When the golden hour finally arrived, the view did not disappoint. Watching the sun drop below the ocean horizon—completely removed from the typical tourist crowds—felt like uncovering a true local secret. If you are blessed with good weather, making the trip down the coast just to watch the sky change colors here is something I cannot recommend enough.
