- I found that all food was relatively affordable and worth the price, expect to spend around ~50twd per dish

- Very accessible, as it's just one train ride away from Taipei Main Station! Take the Taiwan Railway to Keelung Station and walk a couple of mins (~7min) to arrive at the night market. It's also accessible by bus, however train is recommended to avoid the heavy traffic.
- Uniqueness
- For me, night markets in northern Taiwan tend to be smaller and offer less variety, but Miaokou is truly an outlier, which makes it unique! There’s a vast selection of food to choose from, and I found myself going to Miaokou multiple visits during my stay in Taiwan just to try different dishes!
A personal note
My experience
Miaokou is my favourite night market in Taiwan! Having finished all the night markets in Taipei, I was looking for something bigger and came across Miaokou. As it's only an hour away from Taipei, and close to other attractions, I decided to incorporate it into my one day itinerary to Keelung.
I was amazed at the size and variety of food that was present, it's truly a different ball game compared to those in Taipei! There's endless amounts of alleys, lined up with different food trucks for you to try. I also noticed that there's a lot more seafood, most likely because Keelung is right beside the harbor.
One of my all-time favourites is the a dish called the healthy sandwich (literally.). At times, the line for this place can be hours upon hours, for a good reason! It's similar to a Vietnamese Banh Mi but ironically less healthy as the sandwich bread is fried, and it's wrapped with cucumber, egg, lettuce, and topped with it's special mayonnaise sauce. You should try it if you get the chance, make sure to get a ticket first and wait for your number to be called.
Another popular and loved dish amongst Taiwanese and travelers alike is lu rou fan. It's a popular dish, however the one I had at Miaokou was one of my favourites, it's just the right amount of meat and rice.
With a variety of things to try, no wonder Miaokou is a local favourite!
