My Experience

As my stay in Taiwan was coming to an end, I wanted to immerse myself in the island's natural beauty one last time. A friend recommended Bitan Scenic Area, and I’m so glad I took their advice! Getting to Bitan is a breeze via the subway, making it a convenient escape from the bustling city. It's a bit farther from Taipei's city center, and as a result the area offers a quieter, more tranquil atmosphere, allowing visitors to enjoy nature while still benefiting from the conveniences of the city. There’s plenty to do in Bitan. I started my adventure with a hike to Little Lion Mountain (小獅山). To reach the trailhead, I crossed the iconic Bitan Suspension Bridge, which leads directly to the entrance. From there I hiked to the top. The hike was rewarding; I paused to take in the stunning landscape before heading back down to explore more of the area. Along the way back down, you can get beautiful views of the Bitan River, and at the bottom the river boardwalk is lined up with various activities and charming restaurants. Despite the many attractive options for food and things to do, I instead opted to venture into the small town before I headed back home. Overall, the serene landscapes and fresh air of Bitan were the perfect way to cap off my journey in Taiwan. It's a place i'd recommend for anyone looking for a quick getaway from the city center!
