About

Dim Sum has long been one of Hong Kong’s most beloved and delicious desserts. Traditionally, it’s a dish meant to be savored slowly, enjoyed while seated among company. But as the world grows increasingly fast-paced, Tong Kee Bao Dim is making delicious Dim Sum more accessible for the everyday person like me, on the go.

Super accessible! There's branches all across Hong Kong Island and a couple in Kowloon.

Uniqueness

Dim Sum is everywhere in Hong Kong, so nothing here necessarily stands out, except for one thing: their Custard Mochi Bun. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere, and easily one of my favourites.

My Experience

As Hong Kong evolves, its traditions and culture are transforming, leading to shifts in cuisine as well. Dim Sum, once an everyday staple, has become a relatively more expensive commodity. While it remains cherished for the older generation, the rising costs and the notion of enjoying Dim Sum as a sit-down meal have made it less appealing as less and less people have the time to sit down and eat. As a result, many people like me have been looking for quick yet delicious bites. Tong Kee Bao Dim caters too that need; providing delicious Dim Sum selections as snacks that people can order. Since moving to Hong Kong two and a half years ago, it has become one of my favorite spots. Among their offerings, the steamed rice selection stands out to me, a dish typically found only in Dim Sum restaurants. Additionally, their buns, particularly the Custard Buns, have become my breakfast favorites. Priced affordably at just $9, they are not only tasty but also an excellent value! If your looking to try Dim Sum but don't have time due to a packed schelude or itinerary, i'd strongly recommend Tong Kee Bao Dim as a place to try!
